Mission Statement

In the Rite of Baptism, parents/guardians and godparents accept the responsibility to teach their children the practices of the Catholic faith. The Religious Education program assists parents in the following ways:

Teaching children and youth to worship God in Spirit and Truth, especially through the celebration of the sacraments with a special devotion to the Holy Eucharist.
Announcing the Good News of the Love of Jesus Christ to all people and inviting children and youth to carry on this mission with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Teaching compassion towards others by carrying out generous acts of charity and promoting peace and justice in their community.

Our program is for all children between grades 1 through 8. We will accept students in 9 and 10 grades at our discretion depending on the available number of catechists.

Religious Education prepares children and youth to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation. It also instructs children and youth in the church’s teachings according to the Catholic faith and morals based on a curriculum provided by the Diocese of Rockville Center and the Church Magisterium. Our resources include approved textbooks and websites, The Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Holy Bible, the stories of the Life of the Saints, Church documents, and Cannon Law.

Volunteer teams work with children and youth in all of our programs. All volunteers undergo training and background checks in order to participate in ministry for the welfare and protection of our students.

Parents /Guardians will need to support our program by:

  • Bringing them to weekly Sunday Mass.
  • Making sure they attend classes.
  • Assisting them in completing homework and projects in a timely manner.
  • Making sure they learn the prayers according to their grade level.

Classes for 1st to 5th grade are offered: Tuesday or Wednesday from 3:30PM to 4:45PM
Classes for 6th to 10th grade are offered: Tuesday from 7PM to 8:15PM
